Nike PreCool Vest
Objective:
Create a single polymer garment from recycled materials that maximizes evaporative cooling for distance runners.
Result:
Athlete feedback and climatic chamber testing revealed a combination of large mesh holes, interior nodes and hydrophobic yarn worked in tandem to optimize evaporative cooling. Completed after two years of design, the singlet was worn in the Olympic marathon by competitors from Kenya, Australia and Portugal. The original Stand-Off textile evolved into an exclusive line of textured performance fabrics known as Nike Sphere.
